A thermal insulating plaster is a plaster which, thanks to the addition of specific components to the traditional mix, provides high thermal insulation performance and reduces heat loss to the outside. Edilteco’s answer is the Isolteco range.
Emanuele Stabellini – Marketing Manager, Edilteco S.p.A.
One of the advantages of thermal insulating plaster lies in its wide range of applications: it can be used both for the rehabilitation of existing buildings (for example, on mixed or stone masonry) and for structures built using modern construction techniques (clay brick masonry, concrete blocks, rough concrete surfaces).
Edilteco’s proposal in the field of thermal insulating plasters is Isolteco®: a range of pre-mixed plasters with high thermal insulation performance, based on hydraulic binders and EPS beads, suitable for both machine and manual application, and ideal for:
In addition to their low thermal conductivity values, Isolteco plasters are characterised by high water vapour permeability which, combined with high breathability, helps limit problems related to condensation, such as mould and efflorescence.
Since they adapt to any architectural shape, one of their most interesting applications is in older constructions and protected historic buildings. These can be rehabilitated and insulated without using insulation panels, thus without altering the external appearance of the original structure, and any decorative elements can also be reconstructed.
The Isolteco range includes the following plasters:

Isolteco plasters can be used both indoors and outdoors: once applied, they are resistant to rain, humidity and temperature fluctuations, and they ensure optimal adhesion to the substrate, even when it is irregular or made of heterogeneous materials.
Another key advantage is the absence of constraints in the choice of the final aesthetic finish: depending on the context, the plaster can be left as a rough finish or completed with skim coats and finishing layers of various types.
Thanks to the use of EPS, Isolteco plasters maintain their original thermal insulation performance over time, as well as all their health-related properties, since they do not contain or release chemical agents.
When applied without a finishing skim coat, they also offer good sound absorption properties.
The Isolteco range is thus a valid alternative to traditional external insulation systems: thanks to its low thermal conductivity values, it makes it possible to achieve low thermal transmittance (U-values) with limited application thicknesses.
