AVIKOTE AV-650
LIGHTWEIGHT CEMENTITIOUS PLASTER FOR PROTECTION AGAINST HYDROCARBON FIRES
AVIKOTE AV-650 is a lightweight cementitious plaster for the fire protection of steel structures against hydrocarbon fires in petrochemical and chemical plants, refineries and gas processing facilities. It is manufactured by Arabian Vermiculite Industries and distributed by Edilteco.
It has been tested for up to 4 hours to UL 1709, as well as BS 476 / NPD (4 h), cellulosic fire ASTM E 119 / UL 263 (4 h), tunnels RWS (4 h), jet fire (2 h) and NFPA 251 (2 h), and passed a blast test with 227 kg of TNT. It is suitable for exterior exposure.
It is sprayed onto metal mesh, and can also be trowelled; higher thicknesses per coat reduce application time and cost.
NOTE
- Portland cement based, vermiculite-free.
- Dry density ≥ 640 kg/m3 (ASTM E 605); bond strength 593 kN/m2 (ASTM E 736); compressive strength 3,780 kN/m2 (ASTM E 761).
- Shore D hardness 42; air erosion 0 g/m2; λ 0.28 W/mK (ASTM C 518); does not corrode steel (ASTM E 937).
- Theoretical yield 1.39 m2 at 25 mm per bag; mixing water 13-15 L per bag; application ≥ 4 °C.
- 22.2 kg bag; pallets of 42 or 48 bags; grey.
- Not for service temperatures above 93 °C, not on aluminium or non-ferrous metals, not as a refractory.
