Imagine a journey through time, in which one person faced many challenges and built something lasting. This is the story of Carlo Stabellini, founder of Edilteco, a man who lived through difficult times but was able to turn challenges into opportunities.
Emanuele Stabellini – Marketing Manager, Edilteco S.p.A.
I had the pleasure of meeting Carlo, a person like all of us, who worked tirelessly, lived through the war, “experimented” with baking homemade bread, taught in several places, including Bomporto, San Felice sul Panaro and Rio Lunato, ran the family construction company “Alcide Stabellini” and founded Edilteco.
His experience shines through his smiling gaze, and in his eyes you can glimpse the adventure of someone who has fully lived the stories he tells: his voice and his memories captivate anyone who listens to him.
Carlo devoted no fewer than twenty-one years to teaching in primary schools, while at the same time playing an active role in the family business. With great dedication, he managed to combine the school environment with the daily challenges of work. This perspective made his lessons not only theoretical but genuine life experiences, and left a lasting mark on his former pupils, who still greet him warmly when they meet him in the streets of the town: for many people in the area, Carlo is in fact “il maestro” (the teacher).
In 1970 he took over the management of the family business, founded by his father in 1958, extending its construction activity across Italy.
His dedication to innovation and constant pursuit of quality, which had always been the hallmarks of his work as a builder, led him to an intuition that opened up new paths in the thermal insulation of buildings: in 1981 Edilteco was founded, specialising in the production of materials for thermal and acoustic insulation and fire protection.
The technological heart of the company is the innovative formulation of a patented additive, E.I.A. (Edilteco Insulating Additive), which has attracted the interest of major groups worldwide.

Just a few years after the start of its activity, Edilteco took its technology well beyond Italy’s borders, establishing Edilteco France. The step was welcomed with enthusiasm in France too, where the new company was the subject of an article with the evocative title L’Italia che “isola” la Francia (“The Italy that ‘insulates’ France”), which highlighted Edilteco’s role in the construction landscape. The opening of Edilteco France represented not only a geographical expansion, but also a symbolic victory in international competition, which consolidated the company’s reputation for innovation in construction.
The expansion continued with the creation of Edilteco Benelux and, more recently, Edilteco Canada: subsidiaries that bear witness to Edilteco’s growing international presence and bring its experience and sustainable products to new markets.
The success of Edilteco and Carlo Stabellini is not only the result of brilliant ideas, but also of the ability to look ahead and to understand the human and social value of the business. Choosing the right people and caring for the good of society and of employees have been fundamental pillars of this journey. Carlo has always stressed that perfection takes time and that learning is an endless journey.
Today his children Paolo and Elisa are passionately carrying on the Edilteco legacy, keeping alive the mission of improving the well-being of the community through innovation and sustainability. And Carlo Stabellini’s story continues to inspire new generations, in an entrepreneurial journey that combines history and innovation.
