Bright eyes, a curious gaze, kind and polite manners. Looking at him, it almost feels natural to think that all the negative things so often said about younger generations are, deep down, nothing more than a form of nostalgia. Or perhaps a gentle kind of envy for that stage of life which, once gone, never truly comes back. Because then you meet young people like him and realise that curiosity, willingness to learn and respect are still very much alive. You just need to take the time to notice.
Born in 2006, Riccardo Borsari completed an internship of around two months within our Technical Department, where he had the opportunity to experience laboratory activities, technical study and hands-on field observation.
After graduating as a surveyor in Finale Emilia, he is now attending ITS TEC Academy in Ferrara, a two-year post-diploma educational programme focused on the future of sustainable construction and aimed at preparing young technicians to face the challenges of the ecological transition: from energy saving and building renovation to environmental impact reduction and the principles of the circular economy.
Where theory becomes experience
During his internship, Riccardo worked alongside two key figures from our Technical Department: Geom. Paolo Mengoli, Technical Director, and Eng. Nicolò Lo Presti PhD, Head of Applied Research, Technical Innovation and Certifications. Working with Nicolò, Riccardo was introduced to the world of safety data sheets and PCN notifications, learning how to read, analyse and interpret technical documents that require attention, method and precision. With Paolo, on the other hand, he was able to experience laboratory work firsthand: mixing processes, testing, material trials and that fascinating moment when an idea gradually takes shape and becomes matter.
“Everything was new,” he says.
A simple sentence, able to capture the truest meaning of the internship: a first encounter with a world made not only of theory, but also of everyday practice, details, discussions with experienced professionals and real challenges to face. Among the words Riccardo uses to describe these months, there are two that make us particularly proud: support and availability. Because for us, training first and foremost means guiding and supporting people, creating an environment where newcomers can feel free to observe, ask questions and grow.
What they say about him
Yes, because we really enjoyed having Riccardo with us. This is also confirmed by his tutors, Paolo Mengoli and Nicolò Lo Presti, who recognised in him punctuality, politeness, willingness to learn, good practical skills and excellent interpersonal abilities. Both in the office and in the laboratory, Riccardo approached every activity with attention and seriousness, naturally integrating into the team and contributing with curiosity and enthusiasm.
For our part, we can only thank him for the commitment, dedication and curiosity with which he embraced this experience, and wish him all the best for his future and for the continuation of his studies.
