POLITERM® BLU IN THE 5 VILLAS AL SALAM RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX

A 4,000 m² project by Edilteco Kuwait

At the 5 Villas Al Salam residential complex, located in Al Salam in the Kuwait City metropolitan area, Edilteco Kuwait carried out a major project using POLITERM® BLU for the thermal insulation of roofs, the formation of slopes, and the construction of underlayers in wet areas.

Al Salam is a modern residential district in the Hawalli Governorate, characterised by villas, prestigious residences, and diplomatic premises. It is within this context that the project was developed, comprising five residential units and extending over large surface areas.

The works covered a total of 2,500 m² of roofing and 1,500 m² of wet areas, for an overall surface area of 4,000 m².

Versatility that makes the difference

POLITERM® BLU was used in different areas of the complex to meet a range of application requirements:

• thermal insulation of roofs;
• formation of slopes;
• construction of lightweight underlayers in wet areas.

Using the same solution in different parts of the complex made it possible to meet the various requirements of the construction site with a versatile, lightweight solution that can be adapted to the specific characteristics of the surfaces.

On the roofs, the mix based on POLITERM® BLU performed a dual function: contributing to thermal insulation while also creating the slopes required to ensure the correct drainage of water towards the collection points.

In the wet areas, on the other hand, lightweight mixes were used to create the underlayers specified in the project, helping to limit the additional load on the structures compared with traditional solutions.

BLU: consistent quality and performance

POLITERM® BLU is a super-lightweight thermal-insulating aggregate specifically developed for the preparation of lightweight, thermal-insulating cementitious mixes. It is a versatile solution suitable for the construction of underlayers, fills, roofs, and screeds for slope formation.

It consists of closed-cell EPS beads that are non-absorbent, rot-proof, and stable over time, treated with E.I.A., Edilteco’s special patented additive.

Pre-additivation promotes uniform mixing with the hydraulic binder, prevents the EPS from floating, and ensures an even distribution of the beads throughout the mix.

Control of the production process makes it possible to achieve consistent and repeatable characteristics, helping to ensure uniformity in mix preparation and reliable performance over time.

This is a particularly important aspect in a project such as 5 Villas Al Salam, which involves different applications and surfaces of considerable size.
